Walk 45 – Cliffe Fort to New Tavern Fort, Gravesend, Kent
For war historians and cargo ship enthusiasts, the walk from Cliffe Fort to New Tavern Fort, Gravesend, Kent, ticks all the boxes.
This is a busy stretch of the river Thames with a never ending procession of vessels chugging past in both directions.
Surprisingly there are stretches of shoreline that can be walked, a nice change from the usual muddy slop.
Return is across marshes and via Church Street, with its lovely St Mary's church.
