Walk 24 – Saltdean to Portslade-by-Sea, Sussex
To catch the tide I arrived at Saltdean before sunrise. The tide was fully out as the sun yellowed the cliffs and beach. It was going to be a nice day.
Approaching Brighton Marina, the cliffs slope away revealing the skyline of the city. Slippery underfoot, an old abandoned railway line, submerged at high tide, reveals an innovative heritage.
Passing the white boated and chrome plated marina, shingle beach is the order of the day. My friend until the wharf at Portslade by Sea it's refreshing to return by the concreted Monarch's Way.
Completing a smashing walk, I found a sea urchin fossil embedded in a large cobble. Fantastic!
