Tyneham Village
Situated on the Isle of Purbeck (a south Dorset Peninsula), Tyneham Village is known as the lost village of Dorset.
This hard working farming community was taken over by military in 1943 for training due to WWII. Promised they could return, the residents never did. Another government lie, nothing changes.
There are several ruined buildings, some you can walk around, some still just about standing and a lovely restored church featuring a museum.
Take a walk through the car park to the farm buildings. Here you will discover military remnants from the last world war.
Still owned by the Ministry of Defence, the village is open on certain days and times, due to the fact it sits in a live firing range. It might be worthwhile checking before visiting.
Interesting and atmospheric.
