Birling Gap to Eastbourne
Distance: 8 miles – 5 miles SDW
Starting on the SDW, this circular route leaves Eastbourne over Well Combe heading north to a trig point at 168 metres. We then headed back to the B2103 to descend west over Crapham Bottom, East Hale Bottom and Wigden's Bottom to Cornish Farm. This easy and pleasant bridleway turns south to the B2013 again before the final stretch to Birling Gap. From the disappearing former coastguard cottages, the SDW runs east past the landmark Belle Tout lighthouse to Shooter's Bottom. From Beach Head, it's an easy tree-lined descent back. Great views throughout.
