Northey Island

Home to 5,000 wintering Brent geese and cut off at high-tide, Northey Island, Essex is a place of solitude and tranquility.

The causeway joining the island is mentioned in the 991 battle of Maldon, the only access at low-tide. Owned by the National Trust, Northey Island is an escape for a few, quiet hours.
