King's Wood

If you like bluebells, then King's Wood, Kent is the place to visit in April and May. The woodland floor is a sea of blue and English bluebells to boot!

This ancient woodland is maintained by the Forestry Commission and is home to Douglas Fir, Sweet Chestnut and Corsican Pine. And did I mention bluebells? Criss crossed with wide tracks, the wood is a great place to explore on foot, rubber and horseback.

Keep your eyes peeled for deer, numerous birds, butterflies and even the odd albino squirrel. If you take OS Explorer map 137 Ashford with you, it shows the forest tracks making it easier to navigate.
