Greenwich Tall Ships
In April 2017, my wife and I travelled from the sticks to London for the Greenwich Tall Ships regatta. Over 30 vessels were moored at Greenwich and Woolwich having sailed from Spain, Portugal, Germany and Holland. Their onward journey would take them across the Atlantic to Quebec, Boston and Bermuda.
Sadly, the ships were quite spaced out making for a lot of walking and it was too long a wait to board them, but the Greenwich Maritime buildings did not disappoint. The museum, observatory, church and Cutty Sark are all in close proximity. It's worth taking a tour of the Royal Naval College to see the amazing ceilings and fresco, or you could be really touristy and hop from the eastern hemisphere to the west over the Prime Meridian at the Royal Observatory.
