St Mary the Virgin church
If history and ghosts are your thing, then the ruin of St Mary the Virgin and the Holy Rood, Kent church is well worth a visit.
Situated at Little Chart near Pluckley, Kent, St Mary's was completed by the 16th century and gave centuries of service. Sadly, on the evening of August 16th, 1944, a German V1 flying rocket (doodlebug) fell silent, the resulting 'landing' destroying much of the church.

Fortunately no-one was killed but only part of the chancel wall and tower remained. In 1955 a new St Mary's was constructed nearer the village, while the ruin is now a ghost hunters' paradise and photographers dream.
There is a public car park at the church with information board detailing the church's history.
