Windmill Hill windmill
Grade II listed, this windmill is known as a post mill as the windmill rotates around a large central oak post. This enabled the miller to position the sails or sweeps into the wind.
Built in 1814 it was converted to steam in 1894 and finally ceased milling in 1913. During World War II returning bombers used it as a navigational aid to return home safely.
Derelict for several decades it was purchased in 1993 and a trust secured its future. Open on various days of the year.
