St Mary the Virgin

When leaving Flatford Mill in Suffolk, you can't help but notice the stunning St Mary the Virgin church at East Bergholt – that's because it's at the end of a one-way street.

This 14th century, Grade 1 listed church is unusual in the fact that it has no bell tower. To house the redundant clangers, a bell cage was built in 1531 and the five hand-rung bells still strike out today.

A very pretty, historic church well worth a visit.
