Wellington Bomber Memorial

Hidden away on the B2096 Battle Road heading towards Wood's Corner, just before the Penhurst Road turning is a small reminder of the heroic few who gave their lives for the freedom of the masses. On the 27 May 1941, a 304 Polish Squadron Wellington bomber crashed here returning from a mission in France, killing four of the crew. Two, fortunately survived.
