Sistine Chapel ceiling

A truly magnificent work of art, this two thirds scale artists' impression of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, is a modern wonder worth seeing.

Created by local parishioner, Gary Bevans, from 1987 to 1993, it certainly puts sleepy Goring-by-Sea on the map. TV companies and magazines from across the globe have visited to document this stunning ceiling, Time magazine being just one of them.

Housed in the unassuming English Martyrs Catholic Church on Goring Way, the church is easy to get to and there's plenty of parking. Check the website for opening details as the ceiling is no open to visitors all year round.
