Battle Great Woods

Over 450 acres of predominantly conifer and sweet chestnut, Battle Great Woods just off Marley Lane, Battle, is a haven for walkers, dogs, cyclists and horse riders. Well managed with wide paths plus smaller more intimate paths, this Forestry Commission wood is free and open all year. There is a car park accessible from Marley Lane.

If you visit for a mooch, look out for deer and badgers, and if you're really lucky you might catch a glimpse of the elusive nightjar. The lovely 1066 Country Walk runs through the wood and is covered by the OS Explorer 124 map Hastings and Bexhill.
