Michelham Priory
Fed by the Cuckmere River, the moat circumscribing Michelham Priory gives splendid 360 degree views of this 13th century former religious pile. If you can beat the crowds, there are lovely gardens to wander, ducks to feed on the water, targets to shoot arrows at and of course, the Priory itself to explore.
The rooms are full of tapestries and furniture to admire. If they are original or not, they certainly add to the atmosphere with the themed background music.
We enjoyed it here. Some of the rooms we had to ourselves which is always a bonus but we did arrive at opening time. The three hours we spent here flew by. When in the mooching the grounds, look for the multitude of garden ornaments, some of which you can buy.
