Chattri Monument
Walking over the South Downs above Brighton, you cannot help but be drawn to the gleaming white marble Chattri Monument. A place of peace, solitude and remembrance, it has an air of dignified honour to the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their being for others during World War I.
It can only be reached by bridleway but is well worth the brief puff and pant to pay one's respect, and take in the glorious views. For more history on this intriguing monument visit www.chattri.org.
