Chalk figures
There are some things you don't want to see while enjoying the countryside. Litter, abandoned cars and wind turbines are just a few but geoglyphs are a different matter. These predominately white carvings that gleam in the sunshine are earth works that are filled with chalk or dug to expose the chalk beneath.
Around the English countryside there are over 50 of these marvels, mostly depicting horses. But there are others; a lion, badges, a kiwi, a tall man and notably the Cerne Abbas Giant with his rather large club. Always at the risk of disappearing, thanks go to those who tend them. I hope they are always part of the landscape.
