Walk 22– Seaford to Newhaven Harbour, Sussex
During the miles of exploring the shoreline of Kent & Sussex, I have acquired a great fondness for harbours and piers. And with that in mind, part 22 of my Kent & Sussex shoreline walks from Seaford to Newhaven harbour, Sussex certainly didn't disappoint.
Starting in Seaford and heading the west, the shingle beach arches to the East Pier at the mouth of Newhaven harbour. At low tide a swathe of golden sand makes for easier walking as you approach the pier.
The pier is accessible and offers a good vantage point for watching the Newhaven ferry steaming across the Channel. But check sailing times first as it doesn't sail very often.
Returning via the Vanguard Way past Mill Creek is ideal for nature spotters, while the ruined Tide Mills are a sad reminder of our violent past.
