Deer Park
Deer Park (Purchase Wood on OS map 124 Hastings & Bexhill) can be found on the Brightling Road from the Wood's Corner crossroads on the B2096 Battle Road. Owned by the Forestry Commission, there is a small, free car park and roadside parking.
Although the wood is relatively small, it has pretty tree-lined tracks, grand stone walls from the Brightling Estate, babbling brooks and is steep in history.
During our short visit, we sighted a solitary deer, a fox, buzzards playing and a bounty of butterflies. Any information on the strange construction pictured above would be great. A lovely place for a bit of self-isolation.
