Wadhurst Park

The rut, October 2018

John Paul Young once sang 'Love is in the Air' and this certainly rang true in Wadhurst Park Estate one gorgeous, late October Sunday.

Akin to a ship's foghorn, bellow's from the amorous stags thundered around the park, signalling their intentions and probably, frustrations. 

Drastically reduced from previous years, the herd was dispersed over a large area but we were pleasantly surprised to find them grouping and taking the waters in Wadhurst Park Lake.

There are paths through and around the estate some of which bestow fine countryside views. OS map Explorer 136 High Weald will show you the way.

On a personal note, I tried bellowing when I got home but sadly, my desires were not fulfilled. Oh well…
